Toddler Teacher would start estimated June 1st

After School Teacher would start estimated June 1st

(hours subject to change during holiday/summer breaks) Must be able to obtain a criminal record clearance Comply with SB792 Hours may change based on the need of the program. Work with ages 2 years old - 4th grade No Benefits Offered at this time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TEACHER

Provide quality school age/early childhood education experiences for children. A teacher must demonstrate a willingness to participate as a staff team member, implement a developmental curriculum, and work on age appropriate learning activities for the children. Each teacher shall follow the policies and procedures; but acknowledge that this position description is not limited to the items listed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrive on time each day, on the floor ready to work.
  • Promote a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for children.
  • The teacher always stays with the children and knows where the children are at all times.
  • Work cooperatively with staff to develop plans to implement and evaluate curriculum, activities, child assessment policies, and rules of the center.
  • Avoid talking about one staff member to another staff member, in any negative way.
  • Avoid conflicts that distract from the children.
  • Set up learning centers
  • Clean up whenever needed
  • Restock materials when needed
  • Set up cots for nap and all other duties required for naptime.
  • Perform all other duties required throughout the day
  • Provide positive daily routine and simple rules that are understood and accepted by all adults and children.
  • Discipline children using the established policy of the Center, maintaining respect for the child at all times.
  • Provide a variety of equipment, activities, and opportunities which are conducive to learning.
  • Promote the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children with an appropriate day to day program.
  • Change the environment to maximize variety on a rotation basis.
  • Have lesson plans handed in and posted weekly, as scheduled by the director.
  • Provide opportunities for children to interact and cooperate with one another.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to information and records concerning children, families and staff.
  • Refer all inquiries for verification of employment to the administrative assistant or director only.
  • Work with parents on program related areas of parent involvement in the Center.
  • Keep a positive attitude toward children, parents, and staff. Smiles and laughter throughout the day are essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Quickly and efficiently get duties accomplished
  • Knowledge of community support services. Ability to look for Program support resources and other available services within the community.
  • Knowledge and implementation of Agency and Program policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with children, parents, staff and members of the community.
  • Ability to learn skills and methods of observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation with respect to the Program and Center education plans.
  • Ability to learn and comply with Child Care Performance Standards and Federal, State, and local laws concerning the operation of a child care center.
  • Ability to initiate constructive action and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.17 - $20.54 per hour
