Food & Beverage Hospitality Intern

Position Summary:

The F&B Hospitality Intern position will support the Restaurant Manager(s) and staff in all day-to-day activities. They will work with the team to create a warm and welcoming experience for the guests, providing them with food, service and an atmosphere that goes above and beyond their expectations. They will be expected to perform the following duties (not all-inclusive): open & close the restaurant, assist managers with new staff training, ensure that all guests are having an enjoyable experience. Work to correct mistakes, when made, ensuring guest satisfaction. Hospitality or Business-related majors are encouraged to apply. This internship will provide the opportunity to learn and understand all moving parts of a restaurant. You will learn employee scheduling, product inventory management, successful floor management skills, and much more.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Appropriately welcomes all guests in an attentive and inviting way ensuring the ideal experience.
  • Open the restaurant, ensuring that the staff is setup for a successful shift
  • Close the restaurant, ensuring that proper restaurant closing procedures have been followed.
  • Assist with staff training classes.
  • Assist with executing catering orders
  • Knowledgeable of all food, beverage, alcohol, and retail products on menu.
  • Comply with applicable health, food, beverage, alcohol and other laws/requirements.
  • Ensure that company cost controls and inventory procedures are consistently followed.
  • Assist management to ensure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other programs are in place in areas of responsibility.
  • Assist management to monitor inventory and ensure that financial goals of the company are attained.
  • Other assigned duties by a supervisor, manager, or other member of management.

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory to company standards. The requirements listed below are represented of knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
  • Be currently enrolled at a University, College, or Community College
  • Food & Beverage, Hospitality or Business Majors preferred.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to handle and serve products containing alcohol.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations
  • Efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Three to six months education, training, or experience within hospitality industry preferred.
  • Ability to read and fluently speak the English language.
  • Demonstrated quality verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret written documents such as safety rules, training manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to make good, informed, and quick decisions to satisfy guests as well as to fulfill operational demands.
  • Ability to analyze and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of keyboard operation, windows, and internet.
  • Knowledge of point of sale system (POS).
