Operating independently in Massachusetts, Kinnealey Meats offers the expertise of local craftspeople, backed by decades of experience in the foodservice industry. We are looking for qualified personnel to perform duties related to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products and provide efficient and courteous customer service.

Job Description

The Butcher position will perform the following duties:

• Model and deliver outstanding customer service.
• Assist customers with purchases and have the ability to answer any cooking or preparation questions.
• Break down beef, pork, lamb, and poultry products into retail cuts.
• Ensure all cases and shelves are clean and well-stocked.
• Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation of product.
• Visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Prepare, package, weigh, and price meat products for sale.
• Receive, unload, and put away product delivery.
• Follow established procedures for preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking of product.
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including opening, cleaning, and closing the shop.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent. 1-2 years experience in a grocer or retail customer service setting.
• 1-2 years experience as a meat cutter in a retail setting.
• Experience working in a refrigerated area, able to stand, walk, bend, lift throughout shift.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• This position may require work in either the Milton or Hingham location, this is flexible as per the needs of the company and the employee.

Preferred Qualifications

• Foodservice distribution industry experience
• 3-4 years experience as a meat cutter in a retail setting.
• Knowledge of meat cuts and different cooking techniques for them.
• Knowledge of proper knife-handling and use of other cutting equipment
• Knowledge and ability to operate meat grinding equipment
• Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break product down into sub-primal and retail cuts

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekend availability
