Job Title: Accounting Clerk

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Bend, Oregon

Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk will be assisting in bank, merchant, and credit card reconciliations. This position works as part of an accounting team that is responsible for producing timely and accurate monthly statements. The Accounting Clerk will be assigned duties that are part of the overall accounting process. This is an entry level position and one that will allow an individual the opportunity to learn and develop their accounting skills. The Controller and their team will ensure that all accounts payable and receivables are up to date, owner statements and payments are accurate and timely, transient taxes are remitted on schedule, bank accounts are reconciled and distributions are made according to senior management’s directive. The accounting department is also responsible for processing payroll and ensuring its accuracy and offering analysis to the operations team as well as auditing and tracking all insurance policies (corporate and employee).

Areas of Responsibility and Duties

  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Completing monthly credit card reconciliations
  • Reconciling and posting merchant fee statements
  • Reconciling 3rdparty payment processors
  • Filing and recording documents and receipts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification

Specialized knowledge

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with QuickBooks strongly preferred

Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to learn and use new software and tools

Experience

  • 1 – 3 years experience in accounting required
  • Education or course work may be accepted in place of professional experience

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasional travel to other regional offices may be required.

Physical requirements

This job is primarily performed at a stationary desk in an office and can be done sitting or standing. Lifting/moving requirements are generally 10 pounds or less. There may be occasional need to crouch, stoop and bend. Normal workdays are between eight and nine hours, but overtime may be needed based on workflow.
