ONYX Services is offering a Pipeline Engineering Manager - Civil Engineer position to a graduate in civil engineering to join a team of focused professionals. This team defines success on the principals of hard work, accountability and the importance of living a balanced life. This position reports to the headquarter office located in New Caney, TX.

ONYX Services is an established land and marine contractor that offers inspection, design and construction services to a nationwide client base. In this role you will manage a team that specializes in hydraulic assessments, scour and erosion assessments, bank stabilization design, and various waterway improvement projects.

This position manages projects from start to finish. Some examples of responsibilities include assigning tasks, ensuring quality control, preparing bid documents, etc. This position provides opportunity to become well-rounded in all aspects of civil/hydraulic engineering as well as construction management.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervise and direct project staff;
  • Perform quality control reviews of documents
  • Oversee engineering analysis and design. Provide civil engineering expertise on projects related to bank stabilization, waterway improvements and many other civil projects supporting the energy sector;
  • Support and review of feasibility studies which include hydrologic, hydraulic, or geomorphic/scour analysis;
  • Participate in all phases of construction projects from design through project closeout;
  • Prepare bid documents. Develop cost proposals and manage scope of services, budgets, and schedules;
  • Organize and lead construction and design coordination meetings;
  • Administer contracts with various consultants and suppliers;
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining efficiency and quality of work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be currently located near Houston, TX and the surrounding areas
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering an ABET accredited college or university;
  • Valid Driver’s License;
  • Registered Professional Engineer PE (preferred not required)
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and construction specifications;
  • Knowledge of general construction practices and techniques;
  • Course work and/or project experience in one or more of the following areas: open channel
  • Hydraulics and river mechanics, hydraulic structures, hydrology, geotechnical engineering, and construction management (preferred not required)
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience;
  • Minimum 1 years supervisory experience;
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  • MUST have attention to detail;
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent;
  • Hydraulic modeling experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS2D and HEC-GeoRAS.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Self-directed, seller-doer, and strong team member;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the compilation of reports, presentations and records.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required in all aspects of this position;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Ability to frequently interact respectfully and sensitively with individuals and groups;

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
