Job Description :

The Senior Project Analyst is responsible for all accounting and financial activities related to new-equipment installation projects, measuring and monitoring project financial performance, including tracking and updating of project cost estimates based on company policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Mitsubishi Power Aero Controller, the Senior Project Analyst ensures that all project postings, allocations, accruals, and customer and supplier payments are completed according to project schedules. He or she manages day-to-day operations on all issues related to project life cycle from project setup through project closeout.

Additionally, the Senior Project Analyst communicates project financial performance updates to project managers, finance leaders, and other operational management groups.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing procedures, which include reviewing project reports to ensure project financials are stated correctly.
  • Assist with compliance-related matters, including external and internal audits/reviews; plan and coordinate audit schedules/procedures with internal company stakeholders, including obtaining and providing necessary supporting evidence.
  • In coordination with Projects Team, align Work Breakdown Structure cost elements with the appropriate project activity.
  • Collaborate with project managers and functional leaders to identify milestones accomplished and initiate invoices.
  • Generate weekly and monthly financial reports for each project, including but not limited to planned- versus-actual/forecast budget reports and cash flow reports.
  • Determine and record foreign exchange impacts on the project financial reports.
  • Review risk items and other potential project changes with functional leaders regularly to update project estimates utilizing project-risk analysis systems.
  • Attend project planning, kickoff, and status meetings to ensure that project cost issues are raised and addressed.
  • Perform cost analysis, create variance reports, and advise functional leaders on cost overruns.
  • Assist in the development and management of project accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead cross-functional project reviews covering Estimate At Completion and Estimate To Complete accounting activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Execute ad hoc projects, as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office suite to create well-structured documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other documents
  • Knowledge of SAP and Timberline ERP systems preferred; proficient with accounting, database, manufacturing, and project management applications software
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time well to ensure project reports are compiled timely and workload is managed
  • High level of analytical skills to perform analyses of project costs
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including the confidence and ability to present information effectively to any audience
  • Continuous improvement advocate, supporting simplified business processes and helping to implement efficiencies
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing deadlines and business demands
  • Capacity to work well as part of a team and independently without supervision, when required, in pursuit of meeting company and department goals
  • Competency for solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers

Education /Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience required (5 years); cost and/or project-related accounting experience and/or training

Additional Requirement

Up to 5% domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $82,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
