We are searching for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team! This position provides accounting support for donor and campus funds including basic financial reporting for internal staff and campus partners (i.e. balance sheets, income statements, and transaction reports). The Accountant reviews incoming deposits including cash, checks, credit cards, and online payments from third party processors. They ensure deposits are recorded timely and accurately into the organization’s bank accounts. This position promotes innovative thinking to improve accounting and other administrative processes within the organization.

A day in the life of the a Senior Staff Accountant could be:

  • Review and approve cashiers’ office operations, life insurance processing, and ensure deposit verification and reconciliations are performed timely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and the Alumni Association to add, verify, or delete Foundation Information Network (FIN) users. Train campus users on reports available in the system.
  • Provide custom transaction, fund balance, and other financial reporting as requested by colleagues, campus partners, and external agencies. This includes working with internal partners to prepare year end scholarship review and ensure balances are sufficient for awarding.
  • Review fund balances, activity, and attributes on a regular basis to assure fund accounting and attribute accuracy including fund status. Verify new fund set up criteria.
  • Provide accounting data for yearly reports.
  • Maintain recurring credit cards. Process credit card refunds and follow up with appropriate personnel to adjust databases affected.
  • Cross-train according to departmental guidelines and provide backup to the cashier’s office and other accounting functions, as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2-5 years professional accounting experience
  • Understanding of financial statement preparation under GAAP
  • Reconciliation experience
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet timelines
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record
