Job Description:

The Vice President, Commercial Operations is responsible for leading and managing the commercial operations of National Express Shuttle & Transit, which includes pricing, proposals and partnerships. This position will develop short and long-term strategies to maximize business revenue and enhance the customer experience in accordance with National Express’s strategic business plan.

Specifically, they will assist in leading/directing strategic and business initiatives related to growing all revenue areas. This primarily includes pricing and proposal recommendations for new and existing business, bid summaries, bid tracking, and bid models. It also includes providing strategic guidance and managing partnerships which contribute to the success of the Company. Finally, it includes analyzing and evaluate new business opportunities such as potential acquisitions through financial modeling, deal analysis, due diligence, and sensitivity analysis, and provide strategic analysis on the adherence to the overall growth strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategically leading all NELLC’s commercial operation’s activities and initiatives.
  • Directing the pricing team in preparation of pricing recommendations and competitive analysis for new and existing business through the development and utilization of pricing models. This team should also prepare and track bid summaries and maintain an ongoing history of bid results.
  • Leading a proposal team in preparing best in class bid proposals in conjunction with the Marketing team. This includes hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching, goal setting, performance reviews, developing, and inspiring the team.
  • Lead the development of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for bids ensuring they are accurately prepared and submitted within prescribed timeframes, facilitating the due diligence process and legal review, and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Provide strategic guidance from Marketing to the proposal team to provide first class proposals that positively reflect the Company’s brand and reputation.
  • Develop and manage third party partnerships with the Marketing and Business Development team.
  • Ability to leverage industry expertise, best practices and key business drivers in the development of commercial activities.
  • Interacting with all areas of the organization including Operations, Accounting and Finance, Business Development and Customer Success.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement and implementation of best practices within the department and across the organization
  • Providing written financial reports and recommendations to senior management as needed.
  • A high comfort level working in a fast-paced environment and have the capacity to drive forward key business initiatives while managing daily workload.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership/coaching and work with staff to ensure high performance and results including future hiring, training and development opportunities, and managing the overall budget for annual planning purposes.

Skills Required and Physical Demands:

  • Proven management skills and a capability to analyze business problems/situations and diagnose business strengths and weaknesses and identify key issues.
  • An established record of success in increasingly responsible positions as a strategic revenue leader
  • Demonstrated experience in the financial analysis field including specific experience with modeling and reporting systems to develop business cost models and recommend pricing changes.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating and clearly presenting complex business initiatives and models.
  • Strong working knowledge of modeling software to prepare reports and conduct financial analyses.
  • Highly organized with a logical and methodical approach.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of business priorities; ability to work effectively with changing business priorities.
  • Skilled at influencing decisions using qualitative and quantitative data while maintaining enduring partnerships with internal customers.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other MS-Based applications with reference to MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable presenting to executive leadership
  • Excellent verbal, active listening, and written communication skills.

Education and Qualifications:

Hard Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Finance or Business Administration required

Preferred Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in professional/public accounting, banking, financial planning and analysis or equivalent
  • CPA or MBA preferred.

Pay: $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
